When to Choose Accredited Calibration
Separate metrological traceability from accreditation when comparing calibration quotations and certificates.

Traceability concerns measurement results
Metrological traceability relates a result to a reference through a documented, unbroken chain of calibrations, each contributing to measurement uncertainty. A statement that an instrument is “traceable” needs supporting evidence.
Accreditation adds independent assessment
Accreditation assesses a laboratory against a specified standard and defined scope. Confirm the current scope for the requested measurement, range and service location rather than relying on a logo.
Ask a precise question
Request confirmation of the reporting basis, measurement uncertainty and scope coverage for your actual instrument. Neither label on its own establishes that the result will meet your intended acceptance criteria.
