How to Reduce Calibration Downtime
A practical starting point for reviewing calibration intervals using equipment history, use and measurement risk.

Use evidence rather than a fixed default
An interval should reflect how the instrument is used, the consequences of an incorrect result, environmental conditions and available performance history. Manufacturer guidance can inform the initial choice.
Record what changes
Track calibration results, intermediate checks, repairs, transport and changes in use. Distinguish measurement drift from damage, setup effects and changes in the measurement method.
Review and document the decision
Evaluate whether the existing interval remains suitable. Record the evidence and approval for any change; calibration history alone does not justify an interval without considering the intended measurement task.
